Found Not Guilty

Finally, after 10 looong months and $2825.00 DSS of South Carolina has found us not guilty of physical or medical neglect. And in the conclusion comments stated "None of the physicians treating Sanaa ever diagnosed her with a case of severe diaper rash. The Petitioners (Andy and I) followed the treatment recommendations made by health providers concerning the health of Sanaa (Alicison's real name), and if anything were somewhat overprotective of Sanaa and her well being. "
We had complained and complained on Alicisons caseworker at Barnwell DSS and this was her way at getting back at us. The investigation was supposed to be done by an assigned surrounding county but the investigator assigned admitted during the hearing that she didn't do the investigation she had taken Barnwell DSS word that their was abuse and found us guilty. Placing us on a national registry for abuse and neglect of children. This was a registry connected to criminal history, if you had done a criminal history check on us our names would have come up for abuse and neglect of a child, 1 step above sex offenders. We were no longer allowed to work in any field with children...coach, swim instructor, teacher, daycare, church, nothing.
This was a real eye opener for us, we had no idea how easy it was for an angry DSS worker to get back at you.
We are now officially allowed to foster again and live in another county but after all this we sure do not want to go through it again.
